The belief that weight is a function of calories in and calories out has been given the boot by science. Yet, we already knew it didn’t work, right? Some people seem to be able to eat anything and maintain the same weight while others barely eat and struggle to loose weight.

The Good news is that science has provided more insight and there is reason to celebrate.

Stress makes it more difficult to loose weight. How do they know this?

There are chemical changes in our bodies based on what we’re thinking and on our mood. Emotional states that are less than happy cause chemical changes that make our bodies more reluctant to let go of stored fat. BINGO!

Another thing scientists noticed was that people who had suffered (being raised in poverty, being abused, broken-heart, etc.) had more trouble with health and weight. In my work, I’ve seen these same people learn the skills to becoming happier and loose the weight easily. Happy 1st – then loose weight.
